What do you like most about being part of O'Brien?
I have been fortunate enough to have found my dream job right out of the gate. I started with O’Brien in 2015 as a summer intern and right away could see a bright future with the firm. I am surrounded by role models whose values align with mine, and who motivate me to be better. While majoring in finance and accounting I got lost in numbers, but at O’Brien I am able to see how they translate to accomplish tangible goals for clients. I immediately saw a real positive impact from the work we were doing for clients, and knew I was passionate about the field before I had even graduated.
Can you share one secret to success that has been helpful to you in your career?
I strive to learn something new every day, for I believe the key to a successful career is to never lose the thirst for knowledge. I think of my mind as a sponge. I listen to and learn from my colleagues, and take everything in. I know I have a lot to learn and don’t let it intimidate me, but use it to motivate me. It is not just about doing my work but making additional efforts to expand my knowledge and experience, like continuously reading articles, listening to podcasts, and attending conferences. You never know when you might learn something beneficial or even crucial for success.
If wealth management were an ocean, what kind of creature would you be?
I would be a Sea Otter. They are very resourceful, being one of the few animals that use tools. Intelligent and bright, they are consumed with positive energy that makes them eminently lovable and they harmonize with a wide range of other animal personalities. Plus they are so darn cute!
What would your co-workers say is your superpower?
My ability to quickly gain a solid understanding of new software and a peculiar passion for Microsoft Excel! With technology there are endless possibilities and finding new ways to use it is where I thrive. I enjoy building new spreadsheets that will help improve office processes and creating reports that will be easily understandable and presentable for our clients. There is always room for improvement, and in my eyes there is always a next level.
You're a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be?
Cool Cucumber Green. I tend to stay calm, cool and collected no matter how busy the office gets. Just tackling one task after another is always my mind set. Staying organized and focused are skills that help me manage my workload and accomplish my goals. And as for the cucumber green, its rather fitting seeing as I go through an absurd amount of cucumbers a week, having them everyday without fail!
